I’ve had a few questions lately about my inspiration and plans for this website. Back in 2008 when I semi-officially started the journey to get in shape, I was dumbfounded by how much knowledge related to health, exercise, nutrition, and fitness was available.
How is anyone supposed to know where to start? And to make the situation even more confusing, so much of the knowledge available strongly conflicts with similar information.
I started by reading a few good books that seemed to have good information without too strong of a marketing edge. After applying some of the knowledge, I started seeing some results little by little.
This lead to me reading more material, refining my understanding of the field, and ultimately making some pretty drastic improvements in my life.
Why Is This All Free?
My ultimate goal with this site is to rid the world of obesity related illness. Lofty? Yep. Unrealistic? Probably.
Guess what? I don’t care about being realistic about this topic. Hundreds of years ago, it was completely unrealistic to bend metal into a cylinder, attach it to an engine, and fly the contraption between multiple continents. Today we call them airplanes and they are used every single day, and you can say the same about cars, cell phones, computers, and on and on.
Realistic people don’t tend to make lasting changes in the world. I realize that we are a long way from getting rid of our obesity epidemic, but it’s my goal to do whatever I can to pitch in.
A Better World
One of my core beliefs is that if everyone in the world would use their talents, skills, and knowledge to help each other instead of hording it for their own profit, the world would be a remarkably better place. Imagine how powerful this could be even in the confines of a small network of people? Every step that we can take towards this utopia is exciting for me.
I have seen too many close friends and family members struggle with weight to the point of serious health impacts and it deeply saddens me. I’ll do whatever I can to use my knowledge to help those who are willing to absorb and apply it!

Pat- Beautiful writing and I couldn’t agree more! Here’s a quote I heard when I was younger and have attempted to live by since then (I think you’ll have an appreciation for this): “Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
This quote came from Apple Computers and I find it to be one of the most inspiring things I’ve ever read. It’s refreshing to see more people like this.
